On Monday, May 18, the Rhinelander Youth Philanthropy Project awarded $2,500 to the Oneida County 4-H Robotics and $1,380 to the UW Extension Youth in Governance Program in grant funding. The decision was made by the Rhinelander High School Leadership Development classes, after careful consideration of submitted applications.
The Rhinelander Youth Philanthropy Project is a program funded by the Rhinelander Community Foundation in cooperation with the Rhinelander High School Leadership Development classes, with the goal of having students experience community philanthropy first hand. Rhinelander High School offers two levels of Leadership Development, the first level focusing on developing critical personal traits and principles as you influence others, and the second level centers on the individual’s role in team leadership and enhancing positive development on a team.
The partnership aims to develop leadership, critical thinking and collaboration skills among high school students in our community. By learning about philanthropy and nonprofits first-hand, students gain the tools to strengthen their hometown and foster lifelong civic engagement.
“We would like to thank the RCF for their generous support, as well as all of the organizations that submitted applications. This was a great learning experience for our students and we look forward to doing it again next fall,” said Steve Geiger, Leadership Development Teacher, Rhinelander High School.
